We have a city-owned campground located here in town and operated under the Park/Rec. Department.
We are looking at possibly leasing out the operation of the grounds. (maintenance, collecting money, etc.)
Do any other communities have a campground and how are you operating it? Do you run/maintain it or is it leased to a different entity?
We own, operate and maintain a 40 site campground adjacent to our city park. This year has been the best year we have had for camping – a Covid positive. We take reservations and there is also self-registration available if we have sites that are not reserved. We have 7 sites that we have always used for long term camping, longer then a week, and opened up 6 new sites this past June that we also have used for long term camping this summer. We are now able to use our registration system to reserve camping sites for our customers and will go on-line the first of the year with camping reservation requests. We do utilize campground hosts from May through mid October.
